We are asset based community developers. It’s our goal to see assets where others or the contemporary market might chose to see as liabilities. We believe all people and all communities have value to add for a more full expression of the kingdom of God. We believe Portland will not only be a healed land but also become a healing place where others come to receive god's grace. Promise Housing Plus is just one of our beliefs.
Our History
Rev. Ryan Stoess, Founder and Executive Director of Promise Housing Plus, grew up in the Portland neighborhood and has a passion for seeing old houses restored in the Portland neighborhood. After joining the Church of the Promise staff, Reverend Stoess gathered a team consisting of family, friends, and community partners to discuss a way to restore the homes in the Portland community, provide job opportunities, and create a nonconventional way towards home ownership. The two parallel ideas came together and a non-profit construction company was born.
Our Vision is a community where people have access to dignified housing and opportunities to learn marketable job skills.
Our Mission
Promise Housing Plus improves homes in
under-resourced neighborhoods of Louisville, Kentucky while providing construction-related training and employment opportunities to those facing obstacles obtaining a jobs.
Promise Housing Plus is not just in the housing business. Our mission is about building community and addressing the issue of generational poverty through home ownership.
